Earlier tonight, it was announced that on his 6th ballot, Montoursville native and 18 year MLB veteran pitcher Mike Mussina has been elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, receiving 76.7% of the vote.
Mussina debuted for the Baltimore Orioles on August 4th, 1991 and would go on to play 10 seasons in the black and orange, before leaving to become a member of the New York Yankees for the final 8 seasons of his career.
Over his 18 seasons, Mike Mussina held a record of 270-153, was a 5-time All-Star, a 7-time gold glove winner, was the 1995 MLB Wins Leader, and made two World Series appearances with the New York Yankees in 2001 and 2003.
Mussina will join the other members of the Hall of Fame Class of 2019, Edgar Martinez, Mariano Rivera, and the family of the late Roy Halladay, for the Induction Ceremony on Sunday, July 21st at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
