Little League Responds to News Talk 104.1 Report on Trump Tweets

On Saturday afternoon President Trump offered a pair of tweets referring to Little League players getting players back on the field as first reported by News Talk 104.1.

News Talk 104.1 reached out to Little League and received the following from Kevin Fountain, Director of Media Relations:

Question: The president just tweeted at Little League, was anyone on the call (today) yesterday with the professional leagues?

No, Little League was not an attendee of today’s  call with the President and professional sports commissioners.

Question: If not, has the President or anyone on his team reached out?

Mr. Keener and Little League International have been in touch with members of the White House in regards to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and its effect on our program.

Question: If so, what guidance or timeline have they provided?

No specific guidance or timeline was provided during these conversations. Little League is focused on getting its players and volunteers back to the baseball and softball fields when it is safe and appropriate. We would welcome additional conversations with the White House about how this pandemic is impacting our local Little League programs here in the United States and around the world.

From the News Talk 104.1 story earlier this afternoon:

Moments ago, President Trump took to twitter with a pair of tweets regarding Little League and the possibility of playing this season.
