Cutters Postgame Recap

WILLIAMSPORT — For the second straight night, the Crosscutters offense pounded out double-digit hits, finishing with 13 hits in their 9-1 win over Batavia, for their 11th straight win over the Muckdogs in 2016.

Batavia was able to jump out to an early 1-0 lead against Cutters starter Felix Paulino, who struggled to settle in. Alex Jones singled hoim Walker Olis, who had doubled earlier in the inning, to give the Muckdogs a 1-0 lead.

Darick Hall started the scoring for Wiliamsport in the top of the 2nd inning with a solo home run off of Batavia starter Javier Garcia. It was the 9th home run of the season for Hall and gave him his 28th RBI of the year.

Hall has now homered in each of his last three games, going back to the series finale against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers at BB&T Ballpark.

Luis Espiritu continued the Cutters scoring in the 2nd inning, singling home Henri Lartigue to give the Cutters a 2-1 lead. Jesus Alastre capped the scoring for the Cutters in the 2nd inning, plating Luke Maglich while reaching on a fielder’s choice, giving Williamsport a 3-1 advantage heading to the 3rd.

Maglich added on to the Cutters lead with a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Darick Hall to extend the Williamsport lead to 4-1. The RBI was the 18th of the season for the Cutters right fielder.

Jesus Alastre picked up his 2nd RBI of the game, driving home Luis Espiritu with a single through the left side in the top of the 4th inning, giving Williamsport a 5-1 lead. For Alastre, it was his 15th RBI of the season.

Later in the inning, Evan Rogers scored on a throwing error by Batavia shortstop, Samuel Castro. The run extended the Cutters lead to 6-1 heading to the bottom of the 4th.

Enmanuel Garcia got into the home run act, drilling a Joel Effertz offering over the wall in left field to give Williamsport a 7-1 lead. The home run was the 5th of the season for Garcia, giving him his 15th RBI of the season as well.

The Cutters added on to their lead in the top of the 7th inning, as Luis Espiritu brought home Henri Lartigue with a sacrifice fly to right field. The run gave Williamsport a 8-1 lead, and it was the 2nd RBI on the night for Espiritu, giving him nine on the season.

Darick Hall capped the scoring for the Cutters, scoring Enmanuel Garcia with a sacrifice fly to left field. It gave the Cutters their 9-1 lead and for Hall it was his second RBI of the night, giving him his team-leading 29th RBI of the season.

Henri Lartigue had a fine night at the plate, finishing the night 3-for-3 with a double and a pair of walks. The Cutters catcher reached all five time he stepped to the plate and scored two runs in the Cutters win.

Felix Paulino continued his string stretch of pitching, allowing one run over six innings of work. Paulino allowed just three hits and two walks while picking up five strikeouts in his 3rd win of the season.

Carlos Indriago went the final three innings of shutout relief, earning his second save of the season. Indriago, allowed a hit and two walks while picking up three strikeouts.

The Cutters have scored 19 runs while collected 25 hits in the first two games of this series against the Muckdogs.

The 11th win over Batavia sets a Crosscutters franchise record for most wins against a single opponent in a single season.

The win is also the 38th of the season for Williamsport, securing a winning record in 2016.

Williamsport concludes their final road trip of the season, as they start a three-game series against the Batavia Muckdogs tomorrow night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
