News Talk 104.1 has obtained a memo circulated to county department heads and elected officials marked as Lycoming County COVID-19 Response Directive # 6.
Lycoming County Employees were informed of the following on Wednesday:
Due to the continued National, State, and County COVID-19 Declared State of Emergencies and the unknown duration of this declared state of emergency and its impacts on the operations and budget of Lycoming County, effective on April 19, 2020 through May 3, 2020 the County institutes the following furlough.
All Lycoming County employees will be furloughed through the reduction of one (1) hour per day for a total of ten (10) hours per pay period. A traditional day/shift of 8 or 7.5 hours is now limited to 7 or 6.5 hours. This furlough action excludes all Corrections Officers at the Prison and the all Resident Supervisors at the Pre-Release Center, the Officers of both Adult and Juvenile Probation, all employees of the 911 Communications Center, and all employees of the Coroner’s Office due to the 24/7 nature of these essential services.
All employees will retain all benefits and remain responsible for their respective individual plan/policy contributions. The use of Pooled Leave is authorized in lieu of reduced furloughed hours.
The savings realized through this furlough action will be utilized to provide full County paid coverage of all Health Plan deductibles for any employee or their current plan covered family members who require COVID-19 treatment. The County is currently paying all County Health plan participants COVID—19 related Co-Pays.
We will continue to keep you updated with pertinent information as it becomes available. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these unprecedented times.
The actions identified above are effective immediately. Remember that this is a rapidly changing situation and so expect changes to these directives.
