Philadelphia, Pa. – (1/12/2015) – As a direct result of the College’s energized support of its Athletic programs, The Chestnut Hill College Director of Athletics and Recreation, Lynn Tubman, is pleased to formally announce a broadcast partnership with Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (Fox Sports) and its affiliate in Williamsport, Talk Williamsport.
“As the College continues to grow and strive for Uncommon Excellence, we will continue to look for new and innovative ways to grow GriffinNation in that ideal. This partnership with Talk Williamsport is the first step in providing our students, student-athletes, family, and fans with a product they can be proud of,” trumpeted Tubman. Developing a relationship over the past few months, Chestnut Hill College and Talk Williamsport have entered into an agreement that will provide GriffinNation with professional, web-based broadcasts for the 2014-2015 basketball seasons with a possible extension for the Griffins upcoming inaugural sprint football season.
“Our goal is to provide Chestnut Hill College with high-quality broadcasts as we enter the Philadelphia market for the first time,” explained Talk Williamsport Owner and General Manager, Todd Bartley. In order to achieve such a high-quality broadcast, Joe Tordy, an update anchor for 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia, has joined Talk Williamsport. Tordy has also served as the General Manager and Lead Play-by-Play Announcer of the Burlington County Sports Network, broadcasting high school sports in South Jersey. He was the Broadcasting and Media Relations Manager for the Camden Riversharks baseball team from April of 2013 through May of 2014, producing, engineering, announcing, and hosting all 140 games of the Atlantic League season. Tordy has also worked the US Tennis Open for US Open.org Radio in 2011 and 2012, and spent time working for the National Hockey League (NHL) and for Westwood One Radio in New York. He learned the ropes of radio and the art of play-by-play at Fordham University’s WFUV, where he covered and announced both Fordham and New York professional sports. Tordy graduated from Fordham University in 2010 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He currently resides in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, with his wife Kathleen.
Tordy will be joined at the broadcast table by Nick Fratto, a junior at Chestnut Hill College. Fratto has a solid base of experience in calling basketball games inside Sorgenti Arena, having spent the previous two years alongside Ed Caiazzo, who served as the play-by-play voice of the Griffins for the past three seasons in addition to working with Marc Zumoff of the Philadelphia 76ers. In addition to the broadcast, Fratto and Tordy will also continue to conduct postgame interviews with Head Coaches Laura Pruitt and Jesse Balcer; which can be found on the GriffinNation YouTube Channel and are always accessible through Griffinathletics.com.
“As we move forward with Chestnut Hill College it is our intention is to provide them with an online stream of their own for future events as we have done for each and every school we have under contract,” Bartley added. By using the Live Audio link on GriffinAthletics.com or downloading the Tune-In application for mobile devices from the Google Play store, members of GriffinNation will be able to enjoy a professional broadcast experience that has also been incorporated with our InnovaTV Network video broadcast, available with use of the Live Video link.
