Governor Wolf has signed SB422 into law, which postpones the General Primary until Tuesday, June 2.
County Boards of Elections across the Commonwealth sought this postponement in order to protect
public health. Counties believe that the delay is necessary in order to encourage and prepare for
increased absentee and mail-in voting to keep as many voters at home as possible, and also to provide
time to effect additional precautions at polling places to safeguard the health of poll workers and inperson voters.
All voters are strongly encouraged to apply for an absentee ballot or a mail-in ballot in order to
maintain social distancing and minimize Election Day crowds. It is the safest way to vote.
Absentee Ballots are for registered voters who are unable to vote in person at the polling place because
they will be out of the municipality for work or school, or because of an illness or disability.
Mail-in Ballots are for registered voters who are not eligible to apply for an absentee ballot, but who
wish to vote by mail instead of in person at the polling place. No excuse or reason is required.
A voter may apply for an absentee ballot or mail-in ballot in the following ways:
- Apply online at https://www.votespa.com/ApplyAbsentee.
- Print a PDF application from the Voter Services website at www.lyco.org/Departments/VoterServices and mail the completed form to Lycoming County Board of Elections, 48 West Third Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
- Contact Voter Services at (570) 327-2267 to request that an application be mailed to you.
The last day to register to vote or change parties before the June 2 primary is Monday, May 18.
