Cutters Postgame Recap

The Williamsport Crosscutters left little doubt as how they wanted the middle game of the series to go, as they opened the game by plating three runs in the 1st and five runs through the first 3 innings en route to a 8-0 shutout win over the Batavia Muckdogs.

The top three batters in the Cutters line up, Mark Laird, Arquimedes Gamboa and David Martinelli went 7-for-11 with four walks, four extra base hits and scored six of the Cutters eight runs. Gamboa connected on his 2nd home run of the season, a two-run home run to give him 13 RBI. Martinelli had a pair of doubles that led to three RBI, giving him a team-high 14 RBI on the year.

Adonis Medina was strong as usual, recording six shutout innings, allowing just three hits, two walks and striking out a season-high four batters as he improved his record to 4-0. Julian Garcia followed with a pair of shutout innings in relief and Carlos Indriago pitched a scoreless 9th to close out the Cutters 20th win of the season.

Williamsport stranded 10 runners in the loss, but impreve to 8-0 against the Batavia Muckdogs in 2016. Williamsport looks for their first road-series sweep and third series sweep of the Muckdogs of the season tomorrow.
