Cutters Ready to Kick Off 2015 Season, Draft Picks To Join The Squad Soon

The Williamsport Crosscutters season opens on Saturday, June 20 at Susquehanna Bank Park hosting the State College Spikes at 7:05pm.

The arrival roster features just 22 players including six players who played for Williamsport last season, including 2014 NYPL All-Star RHP Mitch Gueller.  Gueller was selected by the Phillies between the 1st and 2nd rounds in 2012 (54thoverall).  Other pitchers returning to the squad from last season include right handers Alejandro Arteaga and Feliberto Sanchez.

The preliminary roster also includes C Wilson Garcia, 3B Jan Hernandez and OF Jose Pujols, all of whom saw action with the Cutters in 2014.

The lone 2015 draft pick on the initial roster is INF Andrew Amaro who was taken by the Phillies in the 35th round of the 2015 draft out of the University of Tampa.  Andrew, the nephew of Phillies General Manager Ruben Amaro, Jr., will be the third member of the Amaro family to wear a Williamsport uniform.  Ruben’s brother Luis was a member of the Cutters squad in 2011 and his father, Ruben Amaro Sr,. managed the Williamsport Cubs to a 43-32 record in 1996.

The Phillies are expected to assign more 2015 draft picks to the squad in the coming days.

Opening Night 2015, presented by Susquehanna Bank & KISS 102-7 takes place on Saturday, June 20 and will feature a schedule magnet giveaway for the first 2,500 fans in attendance and a post-game fireworks show.
