UNCP Announces Radio Partnership With Local Stations

PEMBROKE, NC – Athletics department officials at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced Monday a broadcasting agreement that will allow fans to follow every game of the 2015 football season, as well as the entire 2015-16 men’s and women’s basketball campaigns.

As part of the agreement, select football and basketball games will also air locally on both 88.1 WWFJ-FM in Fayetteville, as well as on 95.3 W237BQ-FM in Fairmont. The local reach will span both Robeson and Cumberland counties. All games will be available via a live audio link on UNCPBraves.com.

“This is a huge step forward for our fans, alumni, corporate partners and the rest of #BraveNation,” said associate athletics director Scott Warner. “Live broadcasts for all home and away games will make it easier than ever to keep track of the Braves throughout the season. We couldn’t be more excited to add this amenity for our fan base and provide them with unprecedented access into Braves athletics.”

The broadcast agreement is in partnership with the Colonial Radio Group of Williamsport, Pa., which is an affiliate of Talk WilliamsportRadio. Assistant director of athletic communications Cameron Songer will handle the on-air talent duties for the broadcasts, with assistance from students in the UNC Pembroke Mass Communications Department.

Fox SportsWilliamsport.com partnering with UNCPBraves.com will allow members of #BraveNation throughout the world access to the audio broadcasts from any mobile device. A free mobile app is available at tunein.com by searching WLYC.

“This project has been eight years in the making and we are ecstatic to finally be able to bring the great student-athlete stories to local airwaves and around the globe,” said owner of Talk Williamsport Todd Bartley. “We’re pleased to have UNC Pembroke Athletics as part of the Talk WilliamsportRadio Williamsport family of play-by-play properties.”
