News Talk 104.1 has confirmed a pair of COVID-19 cases at the ST Engineering plant in Montgomery, Pennsylvania.
Both employees who are related, received positive COVID-19 test results days after leaving work and entering self quarantine at home.
ST Engineering General Manager, Lee Goldberg who spoke with News Talk 104.1 by phone expressed the seriousness of the situation, “we take this situation very seriously.”
He added, “four other employees who had contact with the two co-workers who tested positive have also received tests and are in self quarantine at home awaiting test results.”
According to Goldberg, ST Engineering is following, implementing and adhering to the guidance for essential businesses outlined by CDC, CISA and the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Examples of the measures in place include:
- Employees having temperatures taken for the past 3 weeks (ahead of guidance)
- Plants larger than 50,000 SF feet must wash down everyday with CDC approved cleaning solutions
- Use of masks went into effect today based on the PA Department of Health Order of April 15, 2020
- Social distancing guidelines are in place for the cafeteria as well as other areas
- Hand washing stations are available with soap and towels
ST Engineering received notification of the positive results at 4:15 p.m.on Tuesday and by 6 a.m. Wednesday had confirmed all employees were notified of the situation and next steps for them to take if they had concerns about COVID-19.
The two employees who have positive COVID-19 cases could potentially return to work sometime next week.
Returning to work based on existing guidelines and ST Engineering policy would be to have a second COVID-19 test administered and a negative result occurring plus 72 hours of being symptom free.
