Mark Laird’s RBI single in the top of the 10th inning was enough to give the Cutters the extra innings win, as the Cutters completed the three-game road series sweep of the Batvaia Muckdogs.
Laird finished the night 2-for-5 with the go-ahead RBI, HIS 7th, and a run scored. Henri Lartigue added an insurance run in the top of the 10th, finishing the night 1-for-5 with his 12th RBI. Brett Barbier, 2-for-6 and Darick Hall, 2-for-5 each finished the night with multi-hit games.
Blake Quinn, Jake Kalzer and Alex Kline combined on 5.1 shutout innings of relief in the Cutters extra-innings win. Kelzer finished the night, tossing 1.2 innings to earn his first professional win. Kline entered to get the final out in the bottom of the 10th inning to secure his 1st professional save.
Williamsport and Batavia combined to strand 28 runners in the game, with the Cutters leaving 15 runners on base in the the win. Williamsport ended the game 5-for-16 with runners in scoring position.
With the State College loss, the Cutters are 2 games back in the Pinckney and with the losses by Lowell and Connecticut, the Cutters took sole possession of the New York-Penn League Wild Card.
