Morgantown, WV. — Cutters starter Felix Paulino was dominate, tossing seven shutout innings en route to his first win of the season as the Cutters take the final game of the series against the Black Bears 3-0.
Williamsport got an early lead, scoring the games first run in the top of the 2nd inning. Luis Encarnacion ripped a double, his 4th, to the wall in right-center. Encarnacion scored on a double-play, grounded into by Evan Rogers to give the Cutters a 1-0 lead.
Darick Hall, who entered in a tie for 8th in the New York-Penn League with 4 home runs, extended the Cutters lead to 2-0 with his 5th home run of the season in the 6th inning. It gives Hall 13 RBI on the season.
The Cutters added on in the top of the 7th inning. Jesus Alastre singled to deep right-center and advanced to 3rd on an error by right fielder Matt Diorio with two outs to give the Cutters a runner in scoring position. Henri Lartigue followed with a cue shot into center to score Alastre and give the Cutters a 3-0 lead. The RBI was the 14th of the season for Lartigue.
Darick Hall finished the night 2-for-4, picking up his 11th double of the season in the 8th inning. Hall has picked up 13 total bases over his last three games.
Felix Paulino tossed his most effective outing of the season, working seven shutout innings. The right-hander scattered five hits while not allowing a walk and striking out four Black Bears batters. It was the second time this season that Paulino had pitched six or more innings without allowing a walk, the first time came in Connecticut on July 6th.
Jon Hennigan and Carlos Indriago combined for two shutout innings of relief out of the Cutters bullpen. Hennigan worked around a single and a walk while striking out one in the 8th. Indriago worked around a pair of singles while striking out two to earn his first save of the year.
Jesus Alastre and Chandler Hall joined Darick Hall with multi-hit games. Alastre finished the night 2-for-5 with a pair of singles and a run scored. Chandler Hall collect his 5th double, finishing the night 2-for-3, adding a single and a walk.
The shutout was the seven shutout, fifth combined, for the Crosscutters this season. Williamsport is one of two teams in the New York-Penn League to have multiple shutouts and not be shutout to this point of the season. The other is the Tri-City Valley Cats.
Williamsport makes their way back home to start a three-game series against the Hudson Valley Renegades. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. At BB&T Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field.
