MANSFIELD – Ryan Ehrie was introduced as the Director of Athletics for Mansfield University by President Fran Hendricks at a press conference in the Traditional Reading Room of North Hall on Tuesday afternoon.

“I’m excited and pleased to start off 2017 by introducing Mr. Ryan Ehrie as the Director of Athletics for Mansfield University,” said President Hendricks. “2017 marks our 150th anniversary of athletics and although much has changed over that 150-year period, our purpose in athletics has remained the same – to provide an opportunity for young men and women to earn a Mansfield University degree while also enhancing their lives with the uniqueness of the Mansfield experience.

“Throughout his career as an athletic administrator, Ryan has demonstrated that same commitment.”

Ehrie comes to Mansfield after serving as the Director of Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation at Penn State Hazleton since September of 2014. While at Penn State Hazleton, Ehrie oversaw the addition of the women’s soccer program and acquired funding for a $1.2 million soccer field renovation. He also served on several PSUAC leadership roles including chair of the men’s and women’s basketball, golf, and eligibility committees. Ehrie also oversaw the addition of a full-time Sports Information Director along with an Assistant Athletic Director to his department.

“I am excited and honored to join Mansfield University athletics and look forward to the opportunities in front of us” said Ehrie. “The staff is a great mix of experience, success and energy that I know will continue to build on our rich history and tradition.”

Prior to PSU Hazleton, Ehrie worked as the Senior Administrator of Championships at the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) from 2013 to 2014 where he oversaw the planning and administration of 12 national championship events. Ehrie also provided daily support for the national governing body of small colleges. He came to the USCAA as the Administrator of Membership Services and Championships in 2012.

Ehrie was hired as the Supervisor of Athletic and Recreation Operations at Penn State Fayette in 2009 before being promoted to Assistant Athletic Director/Assistant Baseball Coach in 2011.

The Montrose, Pa. native received a bachelor of science in kinesiology from Penn State University in 2008 before earning a master’s degree in sport studies from the University of Tennessee in 2009. While at Tennessee, Ehrie assisted the Athletic Ticketing and Media Relations offices.

“Our focus will be on graduating student-athletes with a quality education while working to improve their experience at Mansfield and maintaining strong, competitive programs both regionally and nationally” explained Ehrie.
