Suarez Backed By Offense in Win

Cutters Postgame Recap

Starting pitcher Ranger Suarez earned his third win of the season, improving to 3-0 on the season as the Cutters offense scored seven runs on 12 hits in their win over the West Virginia Black Bears Monday night.

Suarez finished the night, allowing one run over six innings of work. The lefty struck out three Black Bears while allowing two walks and five hits. The six innings by Suarez is a season best.

Mark Laird (3-for-4) and Arquimedes Gamboa (4-for-5) combined to go 7-for-9 with four runs scored at the top of the Cutters line up. Juan Luis connected on his 3rd home run of the season in the bottom of the 2nd, giving him a team-high 11 RBI.

David Martinelli extended his hit-streak to 14 games with an RBI single in the bottom of the 1st inning. His streak is tied for the longest in the NYPL this season and is the longest active streak in the league.

Williamsport improves to 18-13 on the season and continue their strong play at home, as they are now 13-2 at BB&T Ballpark this season.
