WILLIAMSPORT–It was all about the start for Kentucky as three four hits and two walks helped it open a five-run lead through the first two innings.
Texas helped out with the rest, committing eight error en route to an 11-1 win for Kentucky.
It was the first 10-run-rule game of the 2016 Little League World Series.
Carson Myers, Isaiah Head, and Mason Williams all opened with singles to help Kentucky take a 3-0 lead over Texas.
The offense continued into the second inning as Devin Obee opened with a walk and Spencer Newman followed with a single to help score two more runs.
Texas finally recorded a clean inning in the third after Gibson Maldonado came on to pitch. He recorded his first strikeout to end the inning without giving up a run.
In the top of the fourth, Obee extended Kentucky’s lead with a lead-off home run. Spencer Newman followed with a standup double. Newman was stranded after Gibson Maldonado fanned a batter to end the inning.
Kentucky even flashed the skill with the gloves, turning a 4-6-3 double play in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The same couldn’t be said for Texas, which committed two errors in the top of the fifth to give Kentucky another run to take a 7-1 lead. A second throwing error allowed two more runs to score on a single from Newman.
Texas committed eight errors through five innings. Five came in the fifth as Kentucky scored five runs to go up 11-1 heading into the bottom of the inning.
