WILKES-BARRE – Wilkes University has announced it will continue its partnership with Talk Williamsport Radio affiliate 1050 AM, 1600 AM, 92.7 FM and 104.1 FM through the 2014-15 athletic year. It will mark Wilkes’ fourth full season of football and fifth season of basketball coverage from Talk Williamsport.

Talk Williamsport became the official voice of Colonel Football 2011 season after broadcasting Wilkes’ men’s and women’s basketball the past three years. The affiliate will remain the official home for Colonel Basketball on the radio in 2014-15. All of Wilkes’ Talk WilliamsportRadio broadcasts are streamed online through www.talkwilliamsport.com, allowing Colonel fans and alumni throughout the world access to the broadcasts.

“Wilkes University is excited to continue its relationship with Talk Williamsport,” said Vince Scalzo, Wilkes’ sports information director. “The broadcasts allow Wilkes fans and alumni the opportunity to follow Colonels athletics throughout the world.”

Talk WilliamsportRadio is the country’s largest sports radio network, providing more than 9,000 hours of talk and event content annually to 750 stations nationwide, including the top 100 markets.

“The partnership with Talk Williamsport has provided full exposure of our athletic teams to future Wilkes student-athletes not just in the surrounding area, but across our broad recruiting base,” commented Wilkes’ director of athletics Addy Malatesta.

Talk WilliamsportRadio Williamsport is proud to announce the addition of Joe Vasile as the play-by-play voice of Wilkes University football and Men’s and Women’s basketball. For Wilkes football in the fall of 2014, Joe will be reunited with Zach Barlage for the first time since they partnered for Widener University football broadcasts in 2012. Joe, a 2014 graduate of The College of New Jersey (Ewing, NJ), recently spent the summer in North Carolina calling Fayetteville SwampDogs baseball games in the prestigious Coastal Plain League.

He has spent the last two seasons as the play-by-play voice of Widener University football as well as serving as the lead play-by-play voice of TCNJ Men’s and Women’s basketball, soccer, baseball and softball.  As the assistant sports director at 91.3 FM WTSR, TCNJ’s student radio station, Joe helped to orchestrate the most TCNJ athletics broadcasts that the station carried in over a decade.

Through WTSR, Joe also served as a board operator and studio host for Trenton Thunder baseball, working closely with the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. Joe also works as a broadcaster for NJ.org Varsity, an online company which streams North Jersey high school sports online where he has called baseball, softball and lacrosse, and this fall will be calling football, soccer, basketball and more.

Joe resides in Paramus, New Jersey, where he enjoys golfing, taking day trips into New York City, and watching sports. He is an avid fan of the New York Mets, the New York Giants, the Brooklyn Nets and the New Jersey Devils.

“Continuing the relationship with Wilkes University Athletics as part of the family of play-by-play offerings Talk WilliamsportRadio offers North Central Pennsylvania in a time of transition is a bonus for us to be able to share the new stories the new coaching staffs will bring forward,” according to Talk Williamsport Owner and General Manager Todd Bartley.
