LORETTO, Pa. – Freshman pitcher/first baseman Alexis Bower (Logan Station, Pa./Williamsport Area) became the first Saint Francis softball player to ever be named NFCA All-Region on Thursday as she was selected to the Great Lakes Region Third Team. Bower made the team as a utility player/pitcher. The Great Lakes Region consists of teams from six different conferences including the Big East, Big Ten and NEC.

Bower, who was named the NEC Rookie of the Year last week, compiled great numbers both at the plate and in the circle in her freshman campaign. She finished with a .305 batting average with seven home runs and a team-high 35 RBIs. The 35 RBIs were fourth in the conference while her 31 runs scored tied for third in the league. Bower also posted a .408 on-base percentage, aided by 17 walks and 10 hit-by-pitches. Her 10 HBPs are the third highest in the NEC. An everyday player either at first or in the circle, Bower was second in the conference in plate appearances with 180.

In the circle, Bower took on a more prominent role as the ace of the Red Flash staff as the season wore on. She started 27 games, fourth-most in the Northeast Conference. Bower ended her season with a 16-10 record, the third highest win total in the league. She also led Saint Francis pitchers in a variety of categories, including ERA (2.36), complete games (14), shutouts (2), innings pitched (154 1/3) and strikeouts (93).
