Relief comes after advocacy to Speaker Pelosi and House Minority Leader McCarthy
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) secured immediate and significant relief for small businesses and employees in the CARES Act, the Phase 3 COVID-19 response legislation passed by Congress Friday.
Among the small business relief in the CARES Act is:
- Paycheck protection loans that can turn into de facto grants if used for employee salary, business mortgage, business rent, or business utility expenses
- Immediate access to capital through advances of Small Business Administration Economic Disaster Loans
- Additional funding for small business development centers
The relief comes after Congressman Keller directly advocated for this kind of immediate and significant relief in a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
On the passage of the CARES Act, Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) made the following comment:
“As an early advocate for substantial small business relief in Phase 3 relief legislation, I was pleased to see many of the provisions in the CARES Act that address small business concerns.
“The significant and immediate relief for small businesses and employees in the CARES Act will help ensure they can weather this crisis and our economy can recover quickly.
“While I believe this bill is not perfect, this legislation will provide much needed relief to our economy, help American families mitigate any economic harm, and provide critical resources to healthcare providers and regional response efforts.”
