Congressman Fred Keller joins Pennsylvania Congressional delegation in urging Small Business Administration to grant Pennsylvania disaster declaration request
Approval would release SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan assistance
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) on Wednesday joined the entire Pennsylvania Congressional Delegation in writing to U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Jovita Carranza urging the SBA to immediately approve the disaster declaration request sent by Gov. Tom Wolf in order to release Economic Injury Disaster Loan assistance to small businesses in Pennsylvania.
“Governor Wolf has heard from businesses in all 67 counties across the Commonwealth and has asked the SBA for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan declaration. We strongly support this request and ask that you grant it expeditiously,” the letter reads in part.
“Cities and towns across our country are beginning to grapple with the economic impact that mitigating the spread of COVID-19 will have, particularly on our small businesses,” the letter adds. “Each of us has heard from small business owners who are concerned about cash flow during this time when people are encouraged by public health officials to stay home and when non-essential businesses are encouraged to close in some areas of Pennsylvania.”
On the letter, Congressman Fred Keller made the following statement:
“Small businesses in Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District and across the Commonwealth are feeling the economic impact from the spread of COVID-19 in the United States and across the globe. The working capital loans that will be made available when the SBA approves the disaster request are a vital component to ensuring many small businesses have the financial assets they need to keep their doors open and employees working until COVID-19 is defeated.”
According to the Small Business Administration, the SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program provides small businesses with working capital loans of up to $2 million that can provide vital economic support to small businesses to help overcome the temporary loss of revenue they are experiencing.
